Places to Visit around Burnswark

Burnswark is located a few minutes' walk from the Longdendale Valley and Bottoms Reservoir with it's fascinating history and close to the ancient fort of Melandra Castle. It makes an ideal base for walking holidays, close to the Trans Pennine Trail for ramblers with the Longdendale Trail only 15 minutes away.

Glossop is on the edge of the Peak District National Park.

The surrounding area holds a wealth of amenities and attractions, including shops, restaurants and traditional pubs serving food, all within walking distance.

There are no shortages of cultural experiences, and places to eat and drink in Glossop itself, and the original village, now known as Old Glossop, is a peaceful area huddled around the old church and cross.

A short distance away you will find the spa town of Buxton, with its diverse architecture Opera House and Pavilion Gardens. The show caves around the village of Castleton, Blue John and Speedwell are reached in 30 minutes. The National trust's Lyme Park, Quarry Bank Mill and Dunham Massey are within 30 minutes.

Chatsworth and Haddon Hall together with the market towns of Bakewell and Matlock Bath with the cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham are about an hour away. 

The bright lights of Manchester 11 miles or 35 minutes by car or Train  from Dinting Station. City centre for shopping, Museums and Art galleries abound with Ordsall Hall- Tudor manor being recently restored. The Imperial War Museum North, The Museum of Science & Industry being places to visit.


Stockport's WW2 Air Raid Shelter and Bramhall Hall are 20 minutes away. Roman Lakes at Marple Bridge 15 minutes. Etherow Country Park- trail and activity centre  10 minutes. Derwent water -The Dam busters Practice Dam at Ladybower is 30 minutes. The Donkey sanctuary 35 minutes. Tatton Hall is 30 minutes or further afield takes you to Liverpool's Albert Dock and Beatles centre 45 minutes away. Or Renishaw Hall & Gardens an Hour.

Standedge canal boat Tunnel 45 minutes.

Cheshire Oak Designer Outlet is about an hour away.
